Yashasvi Jaiswal Soars in Rankings After Back-to-Back Double Tons, India Takes Series Lead

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s bat has blazed a trail in the ongoing Test series against England, and the ICC Rankings have taken notice. His unbeaten 214 in the second innings of the third Test not only propelled India to a dominant win but also catapulted him 14 places to a career-best 15th in the Test batting rankings.

Jaiswal’s double century was the second in consecutive Tests, placing him in elite company alongside Vinod Kambli and Virat Kohli as the only Indians to achieve this feat. His 545 runs in just six innings raise the tantalizing prospect of joining Sunil Gavaskar as the second Indian to score 700 or more runs in a Test series. He also has eyes on surpassing Kohli’s record for most runs against England in a Test series.

Jaiswal wasn’t the only Indian to climb the rankings ladder. Ravindra Jadeja, the Player of the Match for his ton and seven wickets in Rajkot, jumped seven spots to 34th among batters and remains the top-ranked all-rounder. Rohit Sharma’s century in the previous Test saw him rise to 12th, while Shubman Gill (96) sits at 35th. Debutants Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel find themselves at 75th and 100th, respectively.

The bowlers’ rankings witnessed Ravichandran Ashwin leapfrog Kagiso Rabada to grab the second spot, while Jasprit Bumrah continues his reign as the world’s number-one Test bowler. England’s Ben Duckett, impressive with his 153 in the first innings, jumped 12 places to 15th, while Mark Wood also climbed to 21st.
