Virat Kohli is on the verge of setting another jaw-dropping record as he prepares to return to professional cricket in the 17th season of the Indian Premier League. The batting great is six runs away from joining an elite group of batsmen who have scored 12,000 or more runs in total T20 cricket.
Kohli, who has been a regular for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) since the IPL’s start in 2008, will join an elite group of players who have thrived in the shortest format when he makes his first six runs of the IPL 2024 for the renowned franchise.
Notably, the 35-year-old currently has a total T20 score of 11,994 runs after 376 matches, with 4,037 runs coming in T20Is for India.
He is the world’s leading run-scorer in T20Is and will become the first Indian to reach 12,000 T20 runs when he scores his next six runs in the forthcoming competition.
